acrylic nails

Following the correct aftercare will help keep your acrylic nails looking great, lasting longer, and your natural nails healthy underneath.

First 24 Hours:

Take extra care during the first 24 hours – your acrylics are still curing (polymerising) and are more

 vulnerable to damage.

Daily Nail Care:

Apply Nurture Oil twice daily: to the cuticles and underneath the free edge to condition and hydrate the

 natural nail.

Moisturise your hands after every wash with hand cream to keep skin and nails healthy.

Protection & Prevention:

Wear gloves when doing household chores, gardening, or DIY to avoid harsh chemicals or physical stress to the nails.

Avoid contact with tanning products, sunscreens, tinted lotions, and hair products – these can cause

discolouration. Always wash hands after use.

Be cautious when opening ring-pull cans or car doors – these actions can stress or break your nails.

Maintenance Between Appointments:

If nails become too long, carefully reduce the length using a 240-grit file (available at Aphrodite).

If polish is changed at home, use non-acetone remover and lint-free pads or gauze wipes to protect the

 acrylic.

Do not glue lifted areas – this can trap bacteria. Light lifting can be gently buffed away, but if the lifted area

is large or discoloured, book a repair appointment immediately.

Never attempt DIY repairs or removals, as this can lead to serious damage or infection.

Important Don’ts:

Do not bite, pick, cut, or pull at your extensions – this can damage the acrylic and your natural nails

 underneath.

Do not use your nails as tools – treat them as you would your natural nails, with care and attention.

Regular Maintenance:

Infills should be booked every 3–4 weeks. Over time, structure and strength may be compromised without maintenance, increasing the risk of lifting or breakage.

If you experience any lifting, breakage, or concerns, please contact the salon for advice or to book a repair. Healthy, beautiful nails are a shared effort – we’re here to help!
